Beverley K Jewelry (Est. 1999) Established in 1999 by Morrie Knopp, an expert in the field of hand crafted jewelry, he named the Beverley K Jewelry collection after his long-time partner and wife. At the firm’s founding, Beverley split her busy schedule between raising the couple’s two daughters and assisting Morrie with the daily operation of the firm. Today, their oldest daughter works with Morrie in the business as designer who transforms strong design talents into beautiful jewelry creations.
The Beverley K Collection debuted with a female selection of handcrafted bridal rings. Blending charm with craftsmanship, each ring is a mosaic of fine miniature work. Micro-pavé beads secure the stream of tiny diamonds that form a halo around the brilliant center stone. Each is accented by the ancient art of hand filigree giving each creation new depths.
Each strand of 18K white gold is fashioned into delicate vine like curls to form a fancy bridal bed. Finished with deep hand-engraving – reminiscent of royal insignias – the bridal collection appeals to the romantic notions of every bride. All styles are available in 18k gold and platinum.
Each design celebrates the harmony of gems and precious metals. From lacy, vintage filigree to elegant, modern expression, the brand offers a variety of rich textures and finishes in bridal rings, wedding bands and fashion jewelry. Everything is made in the company’s factory and passes through ten completely different quality control stages to meet the firm’s standards.
From start to finish, master jewelers create each individual piece with old world craftsmanship. The meticulous process includes hand polishing every surface. All diamonds and gems are hand-selected to match. Skilled artisans engrave and mill everything by hand from the gliding contours of delicate filigree to the pavé ribbons of sparkling diamonds.
The brand’s ring inventory includes engagement rings (antique and current styles), matching wedding rings, wedding bands (without a center diamond.) Many of the rings are stackable for an even more impressive look. The brand also produces pendants, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. All jewelry is available in white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum.
The firm also owns and operates Abacus Wholesale Jewelers, located in La Mesa, California. This organization is estimated to generate $330,000 in annual revenues and employs five people at this location.
In an interview with Squash Blossom (c. 2010?), Morrie said, “I had always dreamed about designing jewelry – from when I can first remember. In 1992, I was working for a large jewelry company at the time, and I had a 160 foot fall down [a] mountain. I then realized I was mortal, and my time on earth was finite. As soon as I recovered from my fall, I felt the urge to follow my passion with more urgency.”
In the interview Morrie revealed which piece he sold that he wished he’d kept for himself. “A beautiful sapphire and diamond bracelet that I designed with the intention of giving to my daughter on her 18th birthday. One of our very good clients saw the bracelet, and simply had to have it. He eventually twisted my arm and I sold it to him. Needless to say, I made a more exquisite and elaborate bracelet for my daughters’ birthday.”
