Carla Corporation (Est. 1965) was founded by silversmith Nicholas DiCristofaro, Jr. in Rhode Island’s Jewelry District. The Carla Corporation was created because Nicholas felt that small businesses weren’t afforded the same opportunities for business as its larger counterparts.
With the addition of his son-in-law, Ralph Fleming, in 1968, Nicholas began building the company’s niche by buying and selling finished pieces. It also sold their own creations, building a following. With their focus on small business, The Carla Corporation became the leading earring manufacturer in the United States.
Because of its rapid growth, the business moved to larger headquarters where, even in larger quarters, the corporation strived to keep its small business-feel. The company is now led by Nicholas’ grandsons, Ralph V. Fleming III and Brian Fleming.
