Lele Sadoughi was born in Dallas, Texas and majored in advertising at the University of Texas. She then studied at London’s Central Saint Martins. At the start of Sadoughi’s career, she oversaw patternmaking and designing at Rebecca Taylor, which sparked her interest in clothing and hardware. The next step in her career took her to design jewelry for Neiman Marcus, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, and Club Monaco. In 2005, J. Crew recruited Sadoughi to kickstart their jewelry division and became the company’s first Jewelry Design Director. While with J. Crew, she turned out new collections monthly and made the business worth over $40 million over five years. In 2012, Sadoughi left the company to start her own jewelry collection, Lele Sadoughi, and also was the Jewelry Design Director at Toru Burch. Today, Lele Sadoughi’s collections are sold in 75 retailers internationally.
