Lindley Gray (Est. 2012), a native Texan from Houston, is now a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based, independent jeweler whose studio is located in the Fishtown section of the city. After graduating from Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute with a degree in Fine Arts Metalsmithing, Ms. Gray began a freelance career, designing commercial fashion jewelry made from brass and silver.
After receiving numerous requests for signed pieces made from precious materials, she established her personal collection in 2012. This introductory collection consisted of 23 pieces that included earrings, rings, lariats, and collars.
Gray constructs her pieces with an eye to and respect for the past. Art Deco is a prevalent theme in her work, yet she manages to instill a contemporary feel to her pieces making them perfect for everyday wear. In an article published in JCK Magazine, she said, “I like things to be extremely easy to wear. There’s nothing in my line that will feel difficult to wear. I want them to be something you can run errands in as well as dress up.”
All of Gray’s jewelry is made with 100% recycled metals and pure, high-grade sourced gemstones with ethical origins and GIA certifications. She pairs gold and diamonds with simpler stones like green tourmaline, gray moonstone, onyx and citrine. Mixing these diverse elements keep her prices comparatively low.
Each piece is handmade by Gray in her studio and finished in the NYC jewelry district by the vendors she has developed personal relationships with over the past decade.
Gray makes her creations by hand, in her own studio, so her work will have as little impact as possible on the environment. Her collections are available her personal website as well as many other online retailers.
