Shy Creation (Est. 1993) In March 2017, JCK Las Vegas presented its annual jewelry exposition open to all jewelry professionals. The exposition awarded its 2017 Grand Prize to Shy Creation, the Los Angeles–based brand founded by its chief designer, Shy Dayan. The piece that helped garner the award was a 14k yellow gold starburst ring from the Kate collection, named after Shy’s sister Kathy who is a key partner in the company. The collection consists of fun and fashionable pieces for easy, everyday luxury.

Shy Dayan designs jewelry that critics call sophisticated and inspirational for women and men, but to a lesser degree for the latter. The brother and sister team of Shy and Kathy have created legacy fashion designs for nearly a quarter of a century.

Today new pieces are developed on a nearly daily basis. The Dayan’s sense and understanding of style and market trends has enabled the duo to increase their design and manufacturing process to meet market and fashion jewelry trends that frequently change and expand.

According to the firm’s official website, “Shy’s designs originate from a legacy stretching back over thousands of years. Inspired by the great civilizations, Shy expresses this heritage in … beautiful and inspirational jewelry.”

The winning entry at the Las Vegas show has 0.58 carats of diamonds and retails for slightly under $1,500, making it a beautiful yet relatively affordable piece. A photograph of the ring appeared on the cover of the March–April 2017 issue of JCK Magazine.

Shy Creation is a previous recipient of multiple JCK awards. Another outstanding creation is a ladies’ three row diamond fashion ring that is modern and gorgeous. It makes a bold first impression and is crafted in 14k white gold. The contemporary design features a trio of horizontal bars set with shimmering diamonds that radiate its 1/3 carat total weight. It is an open-shank ring finished with a polished shine.

For men, the brand’s offers creations that are both bold and decidedly masculine. Shy and his brother and business partner, co-owner David Dayan, wanted to create jewelry they would wear. It was so well received that it inspired the brothers to create the Manno Line.

The first piece was a 14k yellow gold ring with colorless and champagne diamonds in a squared-off, European-shank style with a gallery and black rhodium behind the brown stones “to make them pop,” said David.

The brand’s other lines include the Bridal Collection, the Eden Collection, and the Glittara Collection that also include rings plus pendants, earrings, necklaces, and some religious pieces.

In a July 2017 article that appeared on the website WVALWAYS.com, Shy Dayan said, “our main goal is to help [buyers] feel confident and beautiful,” and adding, “we want to see [our fans feel the] absolute best about [themselves.]”
