Trumpet & Horn (Est.2012) was established in 2012 by a Los Angeles-based husband and wife passionate about vintage engagement rings and antique jewelry. Trumpet & Horn’s specialty is bringing the personalized service of a local vintage jeweler to an international online store.

The company is motivated by the belief that vintage engagement rings are treasures to be valued and passed on through generations. Their antique rings are created with recycled metals, repurposed jewelry, and diamonds found prior to conflict mining. This ensures that their pieces are conflict-free, eco-friendly, and one-of-a-kind. Adhering to the American Gem Trade Association’s Code of Ethics, and as a supporter of the Kimberley Process, Trumpet & Horn is among jewelry sellers who are both environmentally and socially responsible.

The co-owner, Jerome Heidenreich, had over 30 years of experience in the vintage jewelry industry before he and his wife started Trumpet and Horn as an extension of his thriving wholesale business. Jerry was born and raised in Minnesota. He’s been a lover of gems and jewelry his entire life. Jerry's love of antiques took him to locations around world. He lived, studied, and bought his treasures in Europe and Asia for many decades. In 2012, Jerry and his wife, Kim, co-founded Trumpet & Horn to bring vintage and antique jewelry to the general population.

Kim Heidenreich loves pearls and is a graduate of Colorado University, Boulder with a degree in Communication. Kim keeps the Trader and Horn brand at the forefront of the jewelry industry with her knowledge of media, public relations, branding, and sales. Kim was born and raised in San Diego, California and currently resides in Manhattan Beach with Jerry and their Vizsla pooch, Rocket.

Tommy Heidenreich, Trumpet & Horn’s Sales and Operation Manager is Jerry’s twin brother who was also lured to California by jewels and gemstones. After graduating from American University in Washington, DC with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, Tommy went to work for Jerry and became a true lover of gems and antique jewelry. Tommy divides his time between Los Angeles and Palm Springs where he and his husband, Mario, raise their teenage son.

Every engagement and cocktail ring in the brand’s collection is antique or vintage, unless it is marked as part of one of the company’s vintage-inspired collections. Each of the authentic, vintage classic engagement rings in the collections is unique.

The brand offers four different style categories: Gal Next Door, Street Chic, Vintage Classic, and Vintage Eclectic. The company does not sell reproduction items meant to fool or mislead: Each ring in the Vintage collection is clearly designated and was inspired by an authentic vintage or estate ring that the company reproduces.

Most of the rings offered by the company are authentically vintage or antique. When a ring has been previously owned and was made over 100 years ago from the present year, the company identifies it as "antique." Many engagement rings in the company’s collections that are considered “antique” are from the Victorian and Edwardian periods, which range from the mid 1800’s to about 1915.

When a ring has been previously owned but was made any time in the last 100 years from the present date, the company identifies it as, "vintage." Vintage typically refers to engagement rings that are at least 20-30 years old, but less than 100 years old, and have been previously owned.

The majority of engagement rings in the brand’s collection are authentically vintage, coming from the Art Deco, Retro, and Modern eras that range in date from 1915 to the late 1960’s.

Any newly made ring that has not been previously owned, and was made to look like a vintage or antique ring is considered "vintage-inspired". Most rings from national retailers that are labeled "vintage" are actually "vintage-inspired" because they are brand new and have never been owned by anyone. Vintage-inspired rings often use antique or vintage cut diamonds such as the Old Mine Cut or Old European Cut, but have newly made settings.

Some of the brand’s notable pieces include Kip's Bay, a handmade platinum and 18k yellow or rose gold engagement ring featuring a pear shaped diamond. Modeled after an original Victorian era ring, the Kip's Bay can feature a 0.75ct to a 2.50ct Pear cut diamond center. The accented diamond quantity and size depend on the center size diamond.

Hermitage is an authentic Victorian era 14k yellow gold ring composed of four pearls. The pearls have a creamy and slightly rose colored hue and are each gauged at 4mm in diameter. The pearls are surrounded by twenty-eight electric green demantoid garnets totaling approximately 0.55ct in weight and are additionally framed by a sparkling halo of twenty-four Old European Cut diamonds totaling approximately 1.00ct.

Windsor is a classic platinum three-stone ring originally made in the 1980's. This piece showcases a four claw-prong set diamond accompanied by a GIA certificate stating the 2.02ct Emerald Cut diamond is graded H color and VS2 clarity. The beautiful center diamond is flanked on either side by a pair of Emerald Cut diamonds gauged at approximately 0.60ct in weight, each graded H-I color and VS clarity.

Bacalar is a newly-made diamond solitaire engagement ring handcrafted in Los Angeles. The 18k gold ring centers a platinum prong set Oval Cut diamond. The glistening center diamond is nestled simply in platinum prongs. Two delicate Round Brilliant Cut diamonds, weighing approximately 0.14ct, flank the oval stone, giving the Bacalar symmetry. The ring is finished with a thin, polished 18k gold shank.

A newly-made vintage inspired ring, Peachtree is an Edwardian style diamond ring handcrafted in Los Angeles. This exclusive Trumpet & Horn ring is made from 18k yellow gold and centers a bezel set EGL certified 0.34ct Old European Cut diamond graded E color and SI2 clarity. The sparkling diamond is surrounded by a light and airy oval motif encrusted with bead set Round Brilliant Cut diamonds totaling 0.26ct and enhanced with delicate milgrained edges.

Tulum is a beautiful, newly-made diamond solitaire engagement ring. The 18k yellow gold ring centers a platinum prong set GIA certified 1.56ct Oval Cut diamond graded F color SI1 clarity. The glistening center diamond is nestled in simple platinum prongs and finished with a thin, polished 18k yellow gold shank.

Todos Santos is a newly crafted ring in platinum and 18k rose gold that centers a 2.06ct Oval Mixed Cut sapphire accompanied by a Guild Laboratories certificate. The deeply saturated sapphire is flanked on either side by a pair of Round Brilliant Cut diamonds, totaling exactly 0.13ct in weight, each graded G-H color and VS clarity.

Edgewood is an authentic Art Deco (circa 1930) platinum engagement ring. This vintage ring centers a talon-prong set diamond accompanied by a GIA certificate stating the 1.28ct Old European Brilliant Cut diamond is graded I color and VS2 clarity. The center diamond is flanked on either side by a total of ten Single Cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.20ct in combined weight. Edgewood is further accented with a touch of engraving along the shoulders of the ring.

In 2015, Claire Pettibone created a unique collection of engagement rings and wedding bands for Trumpet & Horn. These vintage inspired rings feature sparkling diamonds as well as luminous color gemstones. The intricate settings are available in white, yellow and rose gold.

In October 2019, Trumpet & Horn announced that it was moving to a new location. It opened a new showroom in the historic Pac Mutual Building in downtown Los Angeles. Trumpet & Horn stock continues to include an extensive range of exquisite high quality antique rings, necklaces, brooches, earrings and mourning jewelry.
