La Nouvelle Bague (Est. 1976) was founded in Florence, Italy in 1976 by Leopoldo Poli who was inspired by the world around him. He interpolated the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes he experienced living in Florence as well as from his global travels into his creations. He was also heavily influenced by iconic Tuscan architecture. He saw jewels as an art form, similar to a painting or a work of literature that could speak a universal language and evoke intense emotion.
Using enameling, every Nouvelle Bague collection is part of a long Florentine tradition that uses exceptionally creative color combinations. Combining the technique with precious metals and stones, Poli created what would become the brand’s trademark.
Every piece springs from the desire to communicate something. Nouvelle Bague designs are made up of symbols and signs from both the East and the West. From the pueblos of New Mexico to the colonial architecture of Malacca, and from the noisy villages of Morocco to the little villages of Tuscany, the jewels are images of art.
Combining gold, enamel and precious stones in creative and innovative ways, Nouvelle Bague rings, earrings, necklaces, bangle bracelets, and watches blend timeless elegance with cosmopolitan modernity that transcends the boundaries of geography and appeals to sophisticated women of all ages. For more than four decades, this brand has positioned itself on the forefront of the fine jewelry landscape and on the cover of trend-setting, style magazines worldwide.
Nouvelle Bague collections are named Semi d’Amore, Foglie d’Acanto, Petali, Hammam della Rosa, and India Preziosa and all are comprised of rings, earrings, pendants, and bracelets. The meanings within the jewelry are highly creative alchemical combinations of color. Distinctive pieces are made with bold, colorful enamel, sterling silver, 18K gold, fine leather and a sprinkling of diamonds.
Notable pieces include 18K yellow gold and enamel oval open hoop earrings, 9mm in diameter, with green and blue enamel on sterling made in the 2000’s and an enamel and diamond bangle bracelet, signed “La Nouvelle Bague” and priced around $5,500.00.
The bracelet boasts bold Italian style, decorated with black enamel and brilliant white diamonds set on a backdrop of 18 karat yellow gold. The slightly asymmetric design is both sophisticated and playful that is the hallmark of the brand’s signature style. The piece opens with a single hinge that turns sideways and is finished with a concealed safety.A woman wearing a piece of Nouvelle Bague jewelry is communicating the ideas of elegance, strength, lightness, and rarity.
