Rafael Dominguez (1911 – 1980) was talented pupil of William Spratling (“The Father of Mexican Silver” during Spratling’s years in Taxco, Mexico. In addition to learning silversmithing skills from his father, Dominguez was also taught by master silversmiths, Mondragon and Navarrette.
Dominguez specialized in cufflinks, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, brooches, pins, and tableware that was highly sculptured. With his wife, Juana, Rafael opened his own Taxco workshop called, Casa Dominguez in 1943 where they sold,”…pleasing designs in jewelry of heavy silver.”
His mark is a simple ‘RD’ inside a circle.
