Wilson Padilla

Wilson Padilla (???? – ????) Navajo artist and expert silversmith whose peak years were in the 1960s. He is most well-known for his handmade rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and cuffs. He is also known to have crafted Bolo ties. His work is featured in museums and has been seen in many exhibits.

Clean lines and intricate, wavy silver saw work around beautiful stones are Padilla’s trade mark features for his silver creations. His hallmark is ‘WP’ also ‘Wilson Padilla, Sterling.’

One example of his work is a turquoise sterling silver cuff with a bezel set gem grade turquoise polished stone. Another is an onyx and silver necklace made from shimmering Sterling Silver. The hand cut Sterling Silver centerpieces each feature beautifully hand cut cabochon of genuine black onyx.

Hand twisted Sterling Silver wires and hand stamped fine line designs give the necklace intricate detail. The Onyx and Sterling Silver centerpieces appear on a handmade box link chain that provides flexibility. The complete set includes matching post earrings.

One more notable bracelet is made from silver and coral. The oval link design features seven coral links set in saw-toothed bezels. The bracelet is finished with a lobster claw clasp, and is stamped with “Wilson Padilla” and “Sterling”.
