Horace Victor Dalling, born February 5th, 1854, was a Canadian Jeweler, watchmaker, and inventor. He is known for making the first two telephones in Woodstock, New Brunswick and for being the watch inspector for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Dalling was born in Richmond, New Brunswick but moved to Woodstock in 1878. It was there that he opened his business, Dalling’s Jewelry Store. In 1900, Dalling gave a silver cup, the “Dalling Cup”, to golf. He donated a gold-lined silver cup in 1905 to the Woodstock Hockey League. Dalling ran his store until 1929, and then his daughter took over until Dalling’s death in the winter of 1931.
