Louis Moinet, born in 1768, is the inventor of the chronograph, which is a type of watch that combines a stopwatch with a display watch. When he was a student, he was taught about watch making and spent lots of time working alongside a master watchmaker. He also studied architecture, sculpting and painting. Moinet returned to Paris where he was made Professor of Fine Arts at the Louvre and once again, he began to study watch making. He continued watch making and became President of the Chronometry Society of Paris. Moinet met Abraham-Louis Breguet and the pair began to work closely together. Over his career Louis Moinet created clocks for people such as Napoleon Bonaparte, President Thomas Jefferson and King George IV.Sell Louis Moinet All Artists
